Oh Kenya Kenya Kenya….. How I love thee. I have LOVED this month!! Best month of the race so far!!! Everything about it has been wonderful. But here are some highlights.
Contact- Our contact is the pastor of the church we are working with this month. His name is Joseph and he is a man of God!! This man is incredible!! He has a beautiful wife named Mercy, a 5 year old girl named Patience who is the cutest, sweetest most adorable girl I’ve ever laid my eyes upon and the first week we were here he had his second baby girl and named her Prudence. He is just amazing!! This month was so incredibly hectic for him, but he always made us a priority and was always thinking about us. I would say that he is one of the best contacts World Race has…ever…in the world!!!
Housing- Amazing!! The girls are in 1 room and Andrew and I are in another. Everyone has a bed to sleep in. We have 2 bathrooms with real toilets and hot showers. We has a chef who prepares breakfast, lunch and diner for us everyday…..yeah!!! I think it’s crazy too, but the Lord wanted to bless us with that, so thank you Lord and I accept that blessing!! It has been good because it gives us 1 more person to minister to and get to know for the month along with giving us more time to do ministry instead of staying back to cook meals. But the most amazing thing about the place where we are staying is the owner of the house. We are staying in a regular house, with a yard in a compound with a gate. The woman who lives here is 69 years old and lives alone because her husband passed away last month. She is a gift from heaven!! She serves us live no tomorrow. Her name is Milka, but we call her momma.
Food- Like I said, a personal chef has been a complete blessing and we are eating like kings and queens this month. Everything we eat is local, fresh and healthy!! Vegetables every meal along with rice, chapatti or local ugali.
Ministry- Great!! We are mainly working with the church doing street evangelism handing out flyers and talking to people to invite them to church. We do that almost everyday. We are also participating in church services. A few of us do worship, we do skits, say the announcements and help out in Sunday school for the kids. We also have been helping out at a disabled home for girls a few days a week. We also go to schools and talk to the kids and do Bible studies. We also held a kids day for church where 200 kids came and got their faces painted, we had balloons, music and a bouncy castle!!! It was one of my favorite days on the race!!!
Overall, it’s been an amazing month!! One of the biggest things I will take away from this month would be the relationships we built. I will do more blogs on those so keep an eye out.
