One of the questions I've been getting repeatedly when I tell my story of the World Race is what I'm doing in regards to employment; what I did before and what I'll do after I return and why would I leave a job. Enter Travis Central Appraisal District.
Many of my family members work for various appraisal districts, and I remained opposed to joining the 'family business' for several years. But eventually the district prevailed and TCAD employed me in the beloved city of Austin for the past year and a half or so. I have to compliment the entire staff for being exceptional in every regard; exceptional coworkers, exceptional supervisors, exceptional people. It was lots of fun working at the District and I feel like I made many good friends. And I am most fortunate to have been told that the door to employment will be open upon my return, so all of you who have been worrying that I'll be homeless upon my return, just know that there is an escape route for me.
The point of this post, however, is to compliment the staff at TCAD. They were instrumental in my professional development at Austin, and in making my stay in Austin optimal. I value the friendships I made, and have nothing but good things to say about my two immediate supervisors, Adrienne and Richard. I think it rare to find yourself in an organization of about 130 people where virtually everyone gets along and works as a team. I hope to maintain those relationships and resume contact when I return. Furthermore, I can't say how much I appreciate their willingness to support this endeavor of mine. What a testament it is to their character, especially those who aren't even believers! So thank you TCAD. See you all in about a year.
