scheduled to leave for Mexico in two weeks to begin The World Race and
as of this morning we are significantly short of our financial goal.
The next sentence of this letter should be a precise breakdown of the
amount we need, but before we go into the facts we want to share our
hearts.
As our departure date approaches we find ourselves at the end of
ourselves. This is it. This is the time of concession. This is when
everythinghas been done that can be done. The next step is to bow to
the mountain in front of us and
were before. But we can’t.
option. Up until that moment we still had some reservations about
leaving behind our lives for a year to serve God. We had worries and
concerns. What would this do to our marriage? What would we do with
our house? What about our pets?
It was six days into training camp when our questions were
silenced. We were sitting in the back under an outdoor tent. A guest
speaker from Sri Lanka had been flown in to preach and pray for our
entire squad. After she spoke she opened the service and invited
anyone to come to the front to receive prayer. As we watched we felt
led to pray together. We joined hands and began to pray over our
marriage and in a matter of seconds our prayer was taken over. 🙂
All of our words and thoughts and questions were paused and in came a
question from God, “All of this time you have gone through the process
of applying for this trip and coming here to training camp, but you have
yet to tell me yes. Will you follow me on this race?” We wept!
Through the snot and tears we replied, “Yes! YES! We will
go.” The rest of that night was a blur. Over the next several
months our worries and concerns were answered one by one. God provided
a renter for our home, temporary homes for our pets, and connected us
with a solid marriage ministry through our church.
*We believe in miracles – join us!*
So now here we are. Everything we can see tells us to give up. Walk
away. But we can’t! We are running this race set out before us.
Through sweat and tears and exhaustion we will run toward this mountain,
not because we are hoping God shows up, but because we are expecting him
to. Which brings us back to that question. Do you believe in miracles?
Our primary financial goal is to raise $13,800 each. So far many people
have expressed interest, but the office has received just over $3,000 in
gifts. We need $7,000 in gifts in order to get the green light to go. And
after that, we’ll need people who will pledge on a monthly basis to help us complete this year of ministry. One heck of a mountain right?
Well we say one heck of a miracle. We have no doubt that God is
covering this amount and we are inviting you to be a part of this. We ask that you please pray alongside us and ask the lord how he
would like you to be involved in this ministry. This is go time and we
want everyone who can to be on board for this ride. In the next week
we and need $10,000.00 in our account.
If you are able to give please contact us directly. We will be
counting down over the next 14 days. We will be sending out regular
updates from now till the time we leave. If you would prefer not to
get these updates, please let us know. Many of you may not be able to
give much, but may want to join with us in praying for this miracle.
We would like to assemble a prayer task force just for these two
weeks. If you’d like to be on it, please just hit”reply” to this email
and write “will pray” in the subject line. We will be sending out a
brief daily update for you to pray over.
Let’s watch this mountain crumble together!
