Who am I?
My name is Bri. I am 18 years old. I am originally from Florida but have spent most of my life living in Wisconsin. I come from an awesome family of strong Christ-followers who help me pursue the Lord constantly. I have two brothers, one older and one younger, who are like my best friends. My parents are my sidekicks and together my family just rocks and I am so thankful for them.
What do I like to do?
I love spending time with friends. I am very social and love to make others laugh. I love traveling and experiencing new places and people. Traveling with your best friends is the most ideal situation and one of my all time favorite things to do.
I love to serve in my church’s nursery. I love babies and kids and I have a passion for showing them the love of Christ. I also love being a summer camp counselor for middle schoolers. It is definitely hard at times, but I love to help lead them toward Christ and show them the reckless love of Jesus. I love eating and exersise (not typically things that go together). Food is amazing and I love trying new exotic foods. I enjoy running (sometimes) and playing soccer. I love God’s creation and being in it. You can find me in my Eno hammock almost every day during the summer, fall, spring and inside during the winter. I love waking up to blue skies, searching for clear nights with stars and chasing sunsets. Being surrounded by creation and its beauty is my favorite place to be.
Why am I doing the World Race?
Until my senior year of high school, I was just a typical American teenager. I hung out with friends, attended school, had a job, and lived my life for me. Then God captured my heart the winter of my junior year of high school. He called me to Tanzania that summer with Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ). In Tanzania, my heart was broken for the world, for children in poverty, for students, for African tribes and so much more. I had the best and worst 3 weeks of my life. When I got back, I was not a typical American teenager anymore. I had lived in poverty. I had experienced a Massai African tribe who had not even heard of America yet worships the same God that I do. I met children who had nothing but the joy of the Lord.
I was going into my senior year of high school a completely different person than who I was before. I started to plan my next steps after high school. My mind knew college was the best and most practical choice, but my heart yearned for more. God had already captured my heart in Tanzania and had started me on my missions journey. I told myself I would apply for the World Race simply as a back up plan if I didn’t get into the college I wanted, but I knew I was kidding myself. My heart was already across the world in countries I have never been to and with people I have never met. During this waiting time, I attended a spiritual retreat with my church and there God hit me in the face with the answer I knew in my heart. “Go.” So here I am embarking on this next journey in my life. I am following Jesus around the world and I could not be more excited.
What can you do?
I would greatly appreciate any financial support that you would be willing to give. I firmly believe that God calls some of us to go and others to support those who have the opportunity to go. I am beyond blessed with this opportunity and all the glory goes to God. Your prayers for my team and me as we prepare and are on this journey would be fabulous. I am so excited for this experience and to share with others the love of Christ.
Keep up with my journey and what God is doing!
