“Vamos al parque!” is Spanish. But in English, this phrase translates to, “Let’s go to the park!” And that’s exactly what we did today. But as we did go to the park, a piece of our heart came with us that we left without.

Vamos al parque

Today was our last day that we got to spend with the kids here in Portoviejo, Ecuador. It was sad to say our goodbyes but we know that the relationships we built, though hard to let go of, show the fruit of having been here and pouring our hearts into these kids. Our many days with the children were spent teaching English, helping serve the poverished families food, and building relationships with the children. And on our last day, we were able to take them to the local city park. One last time serving them a meal. One last chance to pour into the relationships we’ve been building and pouring our hearts into. One last time seeing the faces of those we’ve pursued in love hoping to share the hope we have. And so we spent the day at the park hoping to take the kids to have fun.

I’m beyond thankful for every one of these kids. It broke my heart to see those kids get into our ministry host’s car and head back to place they call home. As hard as it is, I know that even though it feels like a piece of my heart got up and walked off tonight that I can’t get back, that piece of my heart was the love that I hope those kids did not receive from me, but from Christ.

I have a few photos to share from the day! Hope you enjoy the kids through the pictures as much I have.

Two of my amigos. We played volleyball today on a volleyball court with a football because we didn’t have access to a volleyball.

To all of my supporters, through prayer and financials, I thank you so much for this opportunity. It holds a special place in my heart and your efforts have not gone to waste, but are being utilized for the Kingdom of God.

Thank you
