Hello there! The Lord’s been teaching me some things from His Word about the way He created us and how He created us with a purpose in mind. It’s already been impacting my life every day keeping these verses and promises in mind, so I hope you can join me in walking in the purpose God created us for!

Life isn’t about me

  • Everything got started in Him and finds its purpose in Him.” Col. 1:16
  • It’s cool how everything was created for Him so we can trust that when it seems like things aren’t working out according to our plan, it’s because it’s working out for a plan that has ways that are higher than ours and thoughts that we couldn’t make sense of.

I was not made or brought into existence by accident

  • I am your maker, you were in my care even before you were born.” Isaiah 44:2
  • It’s cool to be able to rest not just in the fact that I wasn’t created on accident, but God created me for a unique purpose in the world that I can choose into that will both glorify God and satisfy the true joy my heart desires.

Living on purpose and for my purpose that God created me for is the path to peace

  • “You, Lord, give perfect peace to those who keep their purpose firm and put their trust in you.” Isaiah 26:3
  • Like I briefly mentioned in the last point, not only will living on purpose and for the purpose I was made bring about the fullness of joy, but it will lead to inner peace as I grow in connection with the crowned Prince of Peace and to a profound trust in Him as I see Him work.

There is more to life than the here and now; we have eternity ahead of us

  • The world is fading away, along with everything it craves. But if you do the will of God, you will live forever.” 1 John 2:17
  • It’s reassuring to be able to know that even though the trends and fashions and technologies of today change and we may try or want to adapt, that they will always pass away and the new trend or fashion will come. But our relationship with God and our foundation that we have built on Jesus’ word will not be shaken or ever change. Because His word will never change and will come to pass.

Life is both a test of our stewardship and an entrusting of gifts for us to use for ourselves and Him

  • Unless you faithful in small matters, you won’t be faithful in large ones.” Luke 16:10
  • With the first half of this point, I truly am able to see areas where He tests my character each day not just to test me but so that He can develop my character further into the person for the purpose that He wants me to fulfill
  • I’m being able to take a step back and evaluate how I’m stewarding the gifts that God has given me and if I’m using them for me or for the purpose for which He created me. He has gifted each of us in different ways to fulfill different purposes in a bigger plan

This world is not my true or permanent home, my home is the eternal dwelling place of Heaven

  • “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Cor. 4:18
  • Even though our home may change around or our lifestyle may adapt to whatever the trials of life may be at the time, there is a time when all will be peace and the fullness of joy will be attained and the trials of life will be no more, and that is our true home. I can look forward and truly live as if this is not my home, because it is not. My eternal home is in heaven and I can live in the truth that I will not be here forever, for the Word says that this life is but a breath of air to the existence of time.

I think it’s impacted my life in ways that have made me step back and think for a second, “How did I never think about that before?” I love God’s promises and all that He promises us and knowing that even though sometime His promises take time to come to fruition, like the analogy of a seed in the bible, He will always be faithful to us. That’s just what I’ve taken from these verses that are His promises for you and me and everyone. The beautiful thing about His promises and His Word is that the promises that are for me are for you.

Reflecting on what He’s shown me reminds me of a simple quote to cap off what I feel like He’s been teaching me about our lives.

“It was once said that every man dies, but not every man truly lives.”
