My Captain
I am but a sailor on a Captain’s ship.
I know not the course or the terrain.
I know not the seas.
I know not how to navigate the seas.
I man the sails on a ship navigated by the Captain.
Though the Captain navigates, storms still arise.
The decision lays before me.
Take the wheel of the ship or continue to man the sails.
I shall not take the wheel, for my Captain is the Captain for a reason.
Yet, I find myself fraying from my position.
I find myself trying to make my way towards the wheel when I’m the man for the sails.
In the moments where the ship seems to be off course and waging in the storm.
I have not the perspective of the Captain, but only see through the sailors eyes.
This ship feels the pounding of rain.
The ship faces the full impact of the the stormy waves.
This ship seems off course and my thoughts say it must be the Captain’s fault.
I fray from the sails, and make my way to the wheel.
Immediately, the ship hits a turn and the situation seems to turn for the worse.
Only because this sailor finds Himself away from the sails.
Yet, the ship was in control the whole time.
I begin to think and it makes sense.
How might the Captain navigate if the man for the sails is distracted?
How might the Captain guide us if the man for the sails wanders?
How might the Captain lead the way if the man for the sails tries to steer the ship?
So as a sailor, I will man the sails and trust my Captain.
I will simply do my part and the trust my Captain.
I will not fray from my position so that the Captain might be able to complete His.
I’ll work together with my Captain, as our positions arent the same, but work together.
This ship will set sail.
My Captain will lead the ship that I’ve come aboard.
My Captain will lead His ship that I’ve come aboard.
I know not where to go, but I know that my Captain does.
I ponder taking the wheel to navigate the seas, but I do not know the seas.
My Captain does.
My Captain will provide all I need and lead us where we need to go.
My Captain cares for this ship and will not lead us into destruction.
My Captain knows the seas.
I trust my Captain and call Him by name.
Jesus
My Captain
My soul’s trusted Lord
All my allegiance is rightfully Yours
Through waters uncharted my soul will embark
I’ll follow Your voice straight into the dark
And if from the course You intend
I depart
Speak to the sails of my wandering heart
Like the wind
You’ll guide
Clear the skies before me
And I’ll glide this open sea
Like the stars
Your Word
Will align my voyage
And remind me where I’ve been
And where I am going
Lost in the shallows amidst fear and fog
Your truth is the compass that points me back north
Jesus
My Captain
My soul’s trusted Lord
All my allegiance is rightfully Yours
My Captain, lead me to waters not yet travelled.
My Captain, take me to places not yet seen.
My Captain, together we will travel the shallows and the depths.
My Captain, go with me wherever you take me.
My Captain, do not depart, but remain by my side.
My Captain, lead me into fog that you might show your all-knowingness.
My Captain, share your ways, your navigation, with me that I might be in awe.
My Captain, set our course for uncharted waters.
My Captain, share your voice that I may follow you into what seems to be darkness.
My Captain, show me that the darkness is light to you.
My Captain, show me your intentions that we may partner for your course, not mine.
My Captain, let not my heart wander anywhere but closer to you.
My Captain, let not my ears hear any voice but yours.
My Captain, let not my soul not taste of anything but your goodness.
My Captain, let not my eyes see of anything but your beauty.
My Captain, clear the skies that your guidance be clear.
My Captain, let us glide through the open sea to see the beauty of the ocean.
My Captain, we shall push through the storms in calmness as you will not fail us.
My Captain, take me on an adventure to know you more.
My Captain, take me to places that you might exhibit yourself.
My Captain, let your words align this voyage.
My Captain, remind me where you’ve taken me before.
My Captain, show me that we’re sailing to a new place; together.
My Captain, though the fogs and fear crowd around, we remain together.
My Captain, though the fogs and fear seem to take over, we remain safe.
My Captain, though the fogs and fear push in, we remain unwavering, inseparable.
My Captain, let your confidence overflow within my soul.
My Captain, let your truth be the compass that points me to you.
My Captain, your words be peace to my ears, rest to my heart, assurance to my soul.
My Captain, like the wind, guide me in the direction to you.
My Captain, like a magnet, let not our attraction be separated.
My Captain, have my soul’s trust.
My Captain, you are my Lord.
My Captain, have my allegiance on this journey.
My Captain, set us on sail to a place unseen.
My Captain, let us ride the wind together in this joyous journey.
My Captain, take the wheel as I set the sails.
My Captain, be my Captain.
Jesus, my Captain.
