We are currently in our second month of ministry in Cambodia! Just to give a brief update, we’ve been transitioned in Kampong Thom for the second half of our ministry. We are doing ministry only with the guys from the squad for this second half of our time in Cambodia. Our main ministry availabilities in this city is mainly manual labor, spending and building relationships with the local kids, teaching english and music lessons to kids, among other opportunities that I will share about in the summary at the end of the month if they work out!

As for this time we have with just guys, we’ve been very intentional with each other specifically talking with each other about the legacy we want to leave in our families, friends, and the world. One of the questions posed for us was to write a brief (and rough) eulogy for ourselves that we’d like to be reflected of our lives at our funeral 50+ years from now. So today I plan to share that eulogy with you. I acknowledge that things that have been written have much room to grow evaluating where this portrays me and where I am now. So take heart in knowing I have and am excited about the room for growth that I have ahead. Heres the eulogy:

“Brenton was a man with passion. His sole passion was for God and for people to know God. Through his life, this passion began at home and rippled out from his own heart into his own families and into the hearts of his friends and acquaintances that left a mark and an impact that couldn’t be denied. He walked in a nearness to God that carried over into the outpouring of his life through love, sacrifice, and his passions. He cared for people more than anything else including himself because he continually reminded himself that people will last eternally while materials will come and go. He walked out a life embodying what he preached as he walked through trials upon trials that we’ve seen and known as they’ve passed. Through these trials, he carried a joy that brought a sense of hope and peace to those around him. His life was one to remember because of the way it was lived and who he lived for. He demonstrated his love for Christ in a way that truly shows what it means to be a servant of Christ by valuing others above himself. You couldn’t have not spent time with this guy without feeling loved by our Lord and Savior. His heart for unity throughout the church across the world radiated in his heart with the actions that followed. His discoveries and use of his medical career were some that made an impact on lives upon lives and served as an inspiration that it truly was God working through this young man from a young age. Most of all what this man embodied that truly encouraged people into a life with Christ was his role model that he looked up to and quoted often, his most quoted saying which is now fulfilled being ‚ “To live is Christ, to die is gain.” ”

Thanks for reading! I pray that I will continue to grow and flourish in the passions that I feel like God has given me to share in love with everyone else. I have much room for growth and I know that God works things out through processes oftentimes in our lives so I’m excited for what’s to come…

I can’t wait to share more about what our all guys ministry entails as we proceed forward. We’re halfway through day 2 out of our 3 week period that we will have here. Your prayers for our time of ministry are very appreciated and I’m very thankful for your continual prayers and support!!
