An Unexpected Month
In a perfectly planned world, I would be in a remote village in Ethiopia serving in local orphanages alongside a ministry called HOPEthiopia. But no matter how much you plan, it never ever seems to go the way you thought. As you know if you have kept up with my journey, I have been living in Georgia and Louisiana this fall and I was supposed to have my month 4 split between Home for Christmas and a time called Debrief back in Georgia where we process everything that has happened and everything that is going to happen. This is a time to say goodbye to our Team Leaders who were only assigned for the first 3 months of my 9 month mission and a time to celebrate the growth we have experienced as individuals and as a squad.
But no matter what you plan, you can never prepare enough…
During Thanksgiving, a majority of my squad contracted Covid-19 on travel day and the leadership decided that coming back to Georgia was not a good idea, so that meant my month 4 was going to at home. This is not what I signed up, this was not I expected, this was not what I wanted whatsoever, yet it happened. It was completely out of my control. I tested negative for Covid, yet so many of my friends did. I continually asked God, what do you have in store for me at home?
Over the past few weeks I’ve been reflecting on that question “what mission do you have for me at home?” God has not yet to revealed to me why, but that answer will be coming soon. But I can tell you this, just as much as Louisiana, Costa Rica, and Ethiopia need to hear the Good News, so does West Chester, PA. The same God that healed the sick and casted out demons, is the same God that lives in each person, including WC. In this season of my life, God has continually spoken the word RESTORATION into my life and as i explore the meaning behind it, I’ve seen the need for change in what Christianity looks like today compares to what community looks like in the Bible. Restoration is beautiful, it is happening always, it’s God bringing his Sons and Daughters back to him. I plan on writing another blog about the significance of the word restoration soon.
I am excited to launch January 5th to Costa Rica to serve in a variety of ministries! Thank you for your prayers and your constant support!
