“When I want to grow up, I want to be a trash truck man!”
I have been saying that my whole life. Yes, even in high
school and college. In high school, we had art class 1st period and
every Thursday, the trash truck would come and pick up the trash and I would
always leave my seat and run to the window and watch the trash get smashed…I
did get in trouble, but it was worth it! Even in college, I said I would sell
my degree or stop going to college, if I could just be a TRASH TRUCK MAN!
I was very serious about this in high school, like, legit
serious, until my friends said some “words of wisdom,” which were:
1. You will never get a girl, because you will smell
2. You will smell bad…ALL THE TIME
3. You will get wind-burn on your face during the winter, which is no good
So then, this dream, turned into a fantasy in college. I
would always long to be a trash truck man when I saw one, but this was
just a figment of my imagination now…
If you have been reading my blogs faithfully, you will
remember me writing a blog on “The Dump” in Peru. I said how I did get my
dream, because in college, I got to go to the landfill for my class (I LOVED
IT!!!!) and then when we were in Peru, we got to go to the dump. (read more
about it in the other blog post).
Here in Nicaragua, there is a small dump and when I was
there… IT CLICKED.
My whole life, I’ve wanted to be a trash truck man
and now it finally hit me….
DUMP
MINISTRY.
