Fundraising is in full swing! That number, EIGHTEEN THOUSAND AND SEVEN HUNDRED, is a big one. That’s more than my car cost. I don’t know how, but for some reason that giant number hasn’t really phased me. I just pulled up my bootstraps and got down to business, confident that if it’s what God called me to do, He would provide.
I started off with a hand-me-down business, Hope Soap, selling homemade bath products… and pretty soon I was up to my eyeballs in bath bombs! I had a detailed schedule of which scents to make on each day and was making as many as 25 bombs a night–not including soaps and salts and scrubs; oh my! It was overwhelming. One day a friend who noticed that I may be in too deep reminded me, “You’ve got to leave room for Jesus to provide for you”. That really hit me. Why on earth was I stressing about bath products?!? So, I backed off. I prayed over those silly bath bombs. I prayed that God would use my fundraising efforts to glorify Him and make an impact in my community, and boy oh boy, did He show up!
Shortly after, my local paper asked to do an interview about the WR, I was pumped. Then they ran it ON THE FRONT PAGE… ABOVE THE FOLD! God is so cool, y’all. The support I got from the article was so encouraging. My sweet little community knows how to make you feel loved and encouraged.
As I was setting up my Hope Soap booth at a local event we have called Mimosas at the Market I was told the radio station at the event would be doing a live interview with ME that very day!! God is so cool, y’all! I was able to talk about Jesus and how he is working in my life on the radio. Shortly after that a family walked up to my table. They told me that they were driving from Houston to Plano, heard my interview on the radio and just had to stop… God is SO COOL, y’all! Who stops when they hear an interview on the radio?!? I loved getting to tell them about my trip and give them my info to follow along. It reminded me how important it is to listen to that still small voice even when it seems silly… you never know how it may affect someone.
The list goes on and on. That was all for one Saturday morning. Give Him an inch and He takes a mile. I am so in love with my God who delights in showing up and showing out for us. I cannot wait to see what He has in store for me and my team over these next 2 years.
