I think I speak for everyone when I say that we get caught up in the craziness of life from time to time. Summer is probably the worst time of year for this, right after Christmas of course. We go on vacation and there are baseball games and family picnics. Life doesn’t slow down it just seems to speed up.

In the midst of all of this craziness we forget to take care of ourself. I know for me I forget to drink water or eat lunch. My mind is just off thinking about the campers that I work with all summer.

Sometimes we even forget to feed ourself spiritually. We don’t turn to God when things start to get hectic and overwhelming.

For me when things start to get crazy I just sleep less and work more. I have a problem with spreading myself way to thin and thinking I can handle everything without Gods help. I always end up crashing and burning.

Its funny how summer is all about family and vacations and relaxing but we always end up doing the opposite of relaxing. We aren’t on this earth very long so why are we spending all of our time running around doing things that stress us out?

My challenge for myself and for everyone reading is to truly relax. Spend actual time with your family, not just the ten minutes it takes to drive to the next thing going on that day. Take five minutes out of your day and just look at the things God has blessed you with. Don’t think about work or what you are going to make for the cookout that you have next Sunday. Reconnect with God.
