Our final days in Costa Rica are here. In just a few days my entire squad will be traveling to Nicaragua by bus. Where we will have a few days to debrief with each other before we head to our next ministry site. This month will be a little different, as it is all squad month. Meaning all 43 of us plus our three squad leaders will be living together and doing ministry as a whole.

So before I leave here I thought I would give you guys a recap of what the last couple of weeks looked like.

On the 22nd our hosts Meg and Mark hosted their annual Fear Factor event for the people of the church and community. This event consisted of 12 disgusting events for the six teams to compete in. More on that in a later blog.

On one of our off days Jillian and myself went to San Jose to explore. Where we ended up meeting up with our friends on another team for lunch and spent the afternoon. That was a fun and unexpected day!

Ministry in the schools consisted of a lot of laughter, jump rope, hangman, soccer, games using the vocab words, and giggles when the kids realize I still don’t understand a word of what they were rambling on about. The past two days we said our final goodbyes to our many classes. Received many goodbye cards and lingering hugs. The kids didn’t want us to leave, resulting in them blocking the door so we couldn’t go. I know that even in the short time we were here we were able to love on these kids as they too loved us.

For our last weekend off, we went to Manuel Antonio National Park! Which has beautiful beaches, sloths, monkeys, and vicious raccoons. It was the most beautiful place I had ever been to. Never in a million years did I think I would get to go to a beach like the ones you see on tv. We got to spend the weekend there with two of the teachers we work with at the school. It was a great relaxing timetable just chill and admire the beautiful creations of God. Well it was relaxing until we had to fight off the raccoons who were so determined to find our snacks in our bags. They wouldn’t give up without a fight.

A couple weeks ago we met a girl on the bus who also was working in Los Guido, she was working with a missionary tutoring center. She mentioned one of the girls she works with there is interested in doing the race. We parted ways without exchanging any information. Then a couple days ago her friend found me on Instagram and messaged me seeing we would like to get coffee. So we had them over for dinner. It was an unexpected blessing to be able to fellowship with news friends who we could laugh, share stories of our time here, and pray for and be prayed over. Got knows how to provide what we need without us knowing that we need it.

While the goodyes are tough. I have no doubt God had us here for a specific purpose. I am so grateful for my time here.

As as far as fundraising goes. I need to meet my deadline of $13,000 by November 30th. Which means $800 needs to be raised this month. I am asking for your help. Please pray for my team and squad as we transition this week into a new place. And please pray and consider donating to help me stay on this amazing journey I’ve started.
