End of Month 1 Already?

Our group on the top of the volcano
This month has flown by so fast. I don’t even know where the time went. Today, on our day off, we went to Volcán Itzalco. It was an insane hike, and I mean insane. But the top was so worth it. That vista was like seeing God’s paintbrush.

It was a great last day in El Salvador. We said goodbye to the kids at the CDI yesterday and to the youth today. I am going to miss them. This month was not what I expected, but it was very rewarding nonetheless. We took care of fish and the garden (as much as we could with mountain rats munching on it), we helped make, paint, and deliver bunk beds to families in need, we helped with cleaning and lessons at the church and the Child Development Center, and we made friends with the youth, played soccer with them, and helped them do several activities, including a car wash and a church bulletin board. I also tried my hand at a sewing machine to hem church curtains. Our host told us that the individual time we spent with the children was especially very helpful and made an impact.
We leave for Antigua, Guatemala tomorrow for debrief. On the 6th, we leave for Santo Domingo Xenacoj, Guatemala. It will be an all squad month, with all the teams together. I have no idea what our ministry will be yet.
