I love climbing! Whether its a tree, a fence, a rock wall, doesn't matter I love climbing. So this one day during worship we were singing 'The Climb' by Will Reagen. One of the lines in the song goes like this "I will climb this mountain with my hands wide open".
So I'm standing there in worship with the rest of my squad and I hear those words, "I will climb this mountain with my hands wide open". It stops me in my tracks. How in the world are you going to climb a mountain with your hands wide open? Cause when I think of climbing a mountain it's not a hike up to the peek, it's a vertical climb straight up.
When climbing, your hands are essential for maintaining balance on the rock face. As I'm thinking about this it becomes clear to me, God is telling me that He is going to keep me balanced. That I need to continue moving but he will keep me steady.
Then the concept expanded even further to a picture of a toddler learning to walk with his father. Hands stretched towards the sky trusting his father to keep him steady. The steps are still the child's but the father is present, walking with the child He loves so dearly.
So when you raise your hands in worship don't think of it as just raising your hands in surrender but as reaching up for the hands of a loving father eager to walk alongside His beloved children.
