Jackie’s birthday was coming up and because of this our leadership thought it would be nice to make our blog prompt this week be about her and to switch around our journey markers and blogging this week. Normally I don’t usually use the blog prompts but I feel like I have something to say. I am posting this a little bit later since the WiFi at Dunamis wouldn’t work but oh well.
So Jackie has done something very special that nobody else has and that is she has noticed me and little quirks about me that nobody else has, or at least if they have they haven’t gone out of their way to say it.
First of all towards the beginning of the race I was sitting alone on the couch feeling left out like I had done a few times before. While I was doing this Jackie actually noticed that something was wrong which I’ve discovered with my time on the race that nobody really notices when I’m sad so it’s actually really impressive that she noticed. She approached me and asked if I was alright and I opened up to her a little bit which I had been longing to open up to someone for a long time. She understood what I was feeling or when she couldn’t she at least understood that it was hard.
Another thing she did was one night we had feedback with both our own team and team Tribe for the first time since it’s usually supposed to be just our team but we work so close together it seemed weird that we didn’t have an opportunity to give feedback to each other. One by one people have each other their feedback when I was feeling my lowest and most forgotten and until the very end nobody gave me any. Kat gave me some feedback which was welcome but the fact that people noticed the stuff other people on our team were doing and nobody noticed everything I had been going out of my way to do made me feel really bad. That was until Jackie piped up and gave me some of the most meaningful feedback there was and it really made my day.
Happy birthday Jackie. Thank you for noticing the little things about me.
