In my last post I mentioned that we were considering changing our team name. Actually, we were basically required to change our name. When I found out that we needed to change the name I really started to think about all that meant and the fact that the new name would need to represent who are we now as a team. We had truly been striving to live up to our previous name, Triumph, and so I was wrestling with the fact that Triumph is such a strong name and I didn’t want us to settle for less than that challenge to live our lives in Triumph in Chr-st.
The next day, during a conversation about the new name, I thought of the name Shekinah – the indwelling presence of the glory of G-d. Not everyone on my team was as enthusiastic about the name as I was (am!), and it is definitely harder to say and spell than Triumph. However, we all agree that it is a good name for our team. For me, it is a good reminder that our Father knows what we need and we are moving forward from just living in Triumph to bringing the Shekinah of God wherever we go.
So where does “Shekinah” come from? Basically, the word Shekinah is not found in the Word at all. It is a Hebrew word used to describe the glory of the L-rd that led the Hebrews in the wilderness, that inhabited the Tabernacle and also Solomon’s Temple, and the cloud that came into Ezekiel’s Temple.
We recently found out that the actual word used in Scr-pture for the glory of G-d is a word that means “strength”. What that means is that not only are we a reflection of G-d’s glory, but we are also the representation of the strength of G-d. Shekinah is truly the radiance of who G-d is, and I believe that we, as Team Shekinah, are going to live up to our new name and be the radiance of G-d to this world as we continue our travels.
We are just beginning our fourth month of labor and yet sometimes it doesn’t seem that we have actually accomplished much. This month we are finally getting into some more manual labor and I am loving it because it makes me feel like I’ve “done” something. A lot of our work up until now has not been measurable by human standards, so I have to be constantly reminded that pr-yer is a very important aspect of this team’s work and it is the most important in regard to the spiritual realm.
Thank you all for your thoughts as we have been undergoing change! Everything is going very smoothly, so far, as we transition into a new phase of growth and family, but please continue to remember us and lift us up for continued unity and bonding.
