Personal report:
I have said in recent blogs how recently God has been
teaching me how to step out in boldness and to live without fear. Last weekend
I had a few opportunities to practice stepping out in boldness.
Saturday night, the 16th, Austin, Priscilla and I
went to a radio station on which Austin, Priscilla, Monica and Sam had prayed and preached on Thursday. I was
requested to preach and so I spoke on being a living sacrifice. It was only
about 4 minutes, but I still felt like I was totally out of my element. I had
written out all of my Scriptures and most of what I wanted to say and then I
basically just read it! We then were asked to pray about different things on
the air – okay, but still in front of 7.2 million people! – but then the host
asked me a pointed question about a very controversial topic in the church both
in America and in Kenya! My teammates were as shocked as I was, and they also
had to answer the question after I did, but it was a great opportunity for me
to speak my heart and then, thankfully, my team stood behind me, and we were
able to bless the Church in Kenya because of it. The last thing that weekend
that was a call to boldness was on Sunday morning, the 17th, during
service. I was called on to pray in front of the church out of all 7 of us on
my team! I almost think that they just call the first name that comes to mind
and that’s it, but I know that God was trying to make a point for me. He is my
strength and as long as I am living my life for Him there is nothing else that
matters.
I am still working on living in boldness, but since I have
committed that fear has no place in my life I feel I am being tested in that.
Thankfully, so far, I think I’ve done well, by the grace of God, but I know
there is more to come!
Ministry report:
On the 19th, when speaking at a school there were
at least 20 students who gave their lives to the Lord!!! Thank you for your
prayers as we continue in ministry. None of us have been sick at all and we are
continuing to love our time in Kenya. It will be a sad day when we leave Kitale
on the 26th of this month! May you be filled with the fullness of
joy that comes from Christ!!
We went to the church for worship practice on the 20th
and walked in on an intense prayer meeting. These men and women were crying out
for God to meet them and were repenting and humbling themselves before God so
that they would be fit to serve God in worship when they were asked to do so.
Some of them were literally wailing before God and truly broken. This was not
an event or prayer meeting that was led by anyone, it was just a handful of men
and women who truly want to make sure their hearts are in the right place
before they seek to enter fellowship with God in worship. When’s the last time
our worship teams began practice by spending ½ to 1 hour in fervent prayer
beforehand? I think that this time of prayer, when the main part of the church
doesn’t see, is why these men and women are so powerful in worship when they do
get up in front of everyone on Sunday mornings and the other times they lead
the church in worship before our holy God. Needless to say, we joined them, and
then when everyone was done one woman led us all in a worship song and group
prayer and then we had our worship practice and it was powerful. I can’t wait for
Saturday when we have a church fundraiser to cement the floor and then Sunday
as on both days I get to join this powerful worship team and play my violin for
the glory of God.
We will be speaking at another school on Thursday the 21st
and we are praying that even though there are more restrictions on us than at
the previous school students will still respond to the message of Christ.
Please be in prayer with us that we will go out strong from Kenya to our next
ministry place.
