When I was in Israel I had the opportunity to see a sculpture series entitled “Fountain of Tears”. It is a representation of the interaction between the seven last phrases of Jesus on the Cross and a Holocaust survivor.
Please use your discretion in letting children view this blog because of the nature of the sculptures.

Jesus in Gethsemane

“Father, forgive them for they know not what they do”

“Today you will be with me in Paradise”

“Behold, your mother; behold, your son”

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

“I thirst”

“It is finished”

“Into Your hands I commit My spirit”

The Butterfly Sculpture
This is an exact replica of the outside of a crematorium door at Auschwitz

The Resurrection

The following poem was written by me as a response to the Fountain of Tears experience that I had. It was not only written, though, to represent the horrors suffered in the Holocaust, but in every genocide in human history including those that go on relatively unnoticed in today’s society. Let us not forget Whose we are and use that power and authority to change lives today for eternity.

God, I saw You today
In the midst of the pain
You were there through it all
You experienced the same

Words cannot express
What I feel in my heart
I don’t know what to say
I don’t know where to start

Every man that was killed
Every woman and child
Was like a knife to your heart
As the killers just smiled

Yet it was not only them
The slain for whom You cried
It was also for the killers
The haters, whom You died

It is only through You
That the hurt can forgive
You raised Yourself from the dead
So that in You all may live

Though the survivors forgive
They will always remember
The past that is history
Will go on forever

In the minds and the memories
The stories and songs
Of those who experienced
This wrong of all wrongs

Lord Jesus our Savior
Redeemer and Friend
Please hasten the Day
That all suffering will end

Enable us as Your children
Until that day comes
To show Christ to the world
And to live as the ones

Who no matter the cost
Will carry the cross
And love every person
Through gain and through loss

Who always display
Your mercy and grace
Give all glory to You
And daily seek Your face
