I was asked to write a blog about how I felt before leaving on this mission trip. Here is what I am expecting…
It’s a little hard for me to come up with what I am expecting from this trip and from God on this trip, but here is what I have so far:
On this World Race trip I expect to:
- Have an Identity Crisis – I so often equate who I am to what I do and who my family is than to Jesus Christ alone, and so I am expecting to understand the reality of His presence in my life in a new and fresh way.
- Face my greatest fears and overcome them – whether that be bugs and spiders, or being open and vulnerable with other people, I am expecting God to work His way in my life.
- Learn to really trust God – and be tested in that trust.
- Be humbled and broken before God and my teammates.
- Completely abandon myself to Him in new ways
- Be stripped of Self
- Learn to love like Jesus
- See the world and the people in it through His eyes
- Learn to live daily in the power of the Holy Spirit
- Have my heart broken by the things that break His
- Learn to live in true community with fellow believers from all walks of life
- Be stretched beyond breaking
- Miss my many family members and friends back home
- Be totally and completely blown away by God in many different ways
- Be changed for life
