There are 62 different languages and dialects spoken in Cote d’Iviorie. Guess how many of them I can speak!?
NOT A SINGLE ONE!!!
But I love that cause I’m learning so much! Learning how to communicate without words has been a challenge. I feel so uneducated and frustrated at times. Not being able to ask any questions or get my point across is a nightmare. Even ordering food is a hassle, pointing to things doesn’t work all the time. The little things that used to be convenient for me is all of a sudden the hardest of tasks.
I find it fascinating that communicating with kids has been the easiest part of my trip. They can easily pick up on non verbal communication and a smile is something that every language has in common. Something even more interesting to me is the view they have of people who don’t look the same as them. They cast zero judgement on people because of there skin, they remain curious and comparison stays on the back burner of their minds. They can make a best friend in a matter of minutes and forgive someone who has wronged them as long as ice cream is involved. They hate saying goodbye to friends and fight to have five more minutes with them.

Why does that have to change when we get older? Seriously!
Imagine if our society still held onto some of the same characteristics they had when they were kids. Our perspective of the world would be vastly different. The crazy thing is that a renewed perspective can lead to change, change in the way we live our life which would in turn change the ones around us.
Cheers to the 7 year olds who are speaking wisdom into me without saying a word!
Challenge to myself- Continue to seek out wisdom from places where I normally don’t look. Cause every moment and every breath has the potential to start something big, something new, something that will last a lifetime.
