This week has been full of lasts. It was our last time at the soup kitchen, our last time at youth group Bible study, our last time at vegetable market Bible study. I’ve been looking back on all that we were able to accomplish while we’ve been here. I’m looking forward to the future, ready to see what God has planned for us in Johannesburg, South Africa. I have met so many amazing people while I’ve been here and I’m so thankful for everything I’ve learned from these people. I met a girl named GuGu who went to college in South Africa for Biblical Studies. She is one of the smartest people I’ve ever met and she can almost recite the whole Bible. She is a part of our Youth Group Bible study and no matter what the topic is she can back anything up with truth from the Bible. She makes the Bible come alive and she inspires me to want to understand His word better. I met Tholana who was a part of our Curio Market Bible study. She is an older lady who works hard to sell her handmade goods to raise money for her family. She still takes a break to shut down her shop on Wednesday’s from 1-2 so that we can have Bible study and teach the word of God to the locals in the market. She is eager to learn the word every week and answers every question with excitement. She loves God above all else and wants to spread that love with those around her. She has a kind heart and is a beautiful woman of God. She reminds me to always take time out of my day to spend time with Him and get to know Him better. I met Jeff and Tammy, the pastor and his wife here at Bulawayo Baptist Church. They are a couple from California with two daughters who sold all of their belongings and left their family to move to Zimbabwe and share the gospel. They do more than most people would want to even take on but are always able to do more for those around them. They inspire me to always follow God’s calling for me, even when I think I can’t handle it. I met Johnathan, our only taxi driver (for a group of 11,) who will drop anything to come pick us up and take us wherever we need to go. This includes getting out of a gas line that can be anywhere from a 6-48 hour line just so that we can get somewhere on time. He is one of the smartest people I’ve met here and yet he’s so happy being a taxi driver. He has a heart of gold. In the middle of the cyclone that came through Zimbabwe, Johnathan, despite having had no sleep for several days, still took time out to gather his sons old baby clothes to send to those affected by the storm. He inspires me to serve those around me well just like Jesus did. The list of these amazing people goes on and on. While I’ve been here in Zim, I’ve been blessed to be surrounded by so many people who love and serve our amazing God. I hope I take all of this knowledge home and share it with those around me.
God is so so good!!
Love and miss everyone! See you soon!!
