So I just wrote a blog about coming home, but what are my actual plans after I get home? Live with my parents forever? Start my campaign for president?
The truth is almost like those things, but also different.
Come this January (which sounds far away now but it’ll be here before you know it), I’ll be heading to a leadership academy called G-42 for 6 months.
What is G-42?
G-42 is a leadership academy that is not “technically” associated with the world race, but there are areas of overlap in mindset and in their overall culture of empowerment. G-42 is a 6-month training academy where I would be considered an intern. I would go to class for a few hours a day—learn about the kingdom and where I fit into it and how I can expand it into every area of my life. Make living for Jesus not a job but a lifestyle, and then put into practice what I’ve learned, not only with the community of other interns and teachers, but within the community of Mijas (where G-42 is located).
On the race I learned a lot about the church and what the church body can look like, who the church body can be to each other and to a community, and I want to cultivate that atmosphere wherever I go. G-42 is all about imparting everything that God has and all that he is onto the next generation, focused on raising up a new group of leaders who know who they are, who God is, and can change the world with the gifts that he’s given them. God’s told me I’m going into some kind of ministry—and whether that’s a business with a kingdom mindset, or an actual ministry position, I don’t know. I know that God has put a huge desire for real discipleship in my heart, and being discipled by people who have walked with Christ for decades—people who have walked through some very hard and real things—would be a privilege.
Here’s a link to the website if you really want to dive into the heart of G-42 and all the people in there: www.g42leadershipacademy.org.
“The G42 Leadership Academy is a six month program created for discipling, inspiring and equipping young men and women to locate their passion – whether in business, the non-profit realm, church planting or the arts – and to develop a strategy to use that passion to bring Kingdom to the earth.”
Where is G-42?
G-42 is located in Mijas, Spain. Yes, I know, southern Spain, that must be a tough life—but I just go where God calls. Ever since I studied abroad in Spain my senior year of college, I always knew I’d come back one day. I just knew it, beyond any shadow of a doubt. Anytime I’d pray about anything, I’d just get this feeling about going to back to Spain and my heart would just start to beat fast. Sometimes you’ll hear missionaries or other people talk about being in a country and just feeling “at home,” and Spain has always been that place for me where I just felt so much peace. I’ve heard God say that Spain will be home (at least for a season), and I’m ready to head back there and see what He does there.
Why G-42?
Spain is a place that I’ve always felt called to (see below), and I’m ready to invest in the people and culture there, and when I heard about G-42 in Mijas, I just remember thinking, “Why wouldn’t everyone want to do this?” It sounded too good to be true. One of those things that you really want, but you think, “Surely God can’t also want this for me.”
But it’s not. God’s telling me that’s where he wants me—in that place under those people’s leadership—so that’s where I’m headed. I’ll be doing a lot of traveling in the 4 months once I get back to America after this world race is over, but my plan is to head to Spain and put myself in a position for God to use me. I’m excited. I’m also probably going to be doing some kind of fundraiser (t-shirts, maybe?) so stay tuned for that.
The only other thing I want to say is thank you all for following me on this journey! I’ve felt the love and support and prayers from across the world, and while this season is over, I’m excited for what’s to come (…SPAIN!)
Allllll the love,
Bree
