Word for word excerpt from my journal:
Sunday December 16, 2018 Calvary Chapel Cusco, Perú
I woke up today long before my alarm thanks to the airplanes taking off and landing right above us in five minute intervals. No matter, because of this I had plenty of time to “get ready” and “clean the kitchen” before people start arriving for church.
I say “get ready” but does that mean I took a shower? HECK NO! The water is ice, will sometimes explode at the ceiling, shock you or break. Having taken that gamble just yesterday I happily decided to skip it today. My “get ready” involved wet wipes, dry shampoo, deodorant, body spray, makeup,de-wrinkle spraying my dress & a toothbrush.
By “clean the kitchen” I mean washing dishes and sweeping up popcorn. Yesterday we helped with an event here called Fiesta de Niños. Lots of face painting, balloons, music, teaching & games! Afterwards to unwind made ALOT of popcorn, heated up leftover hot chocolate and “tried” to watch a classic Christmas movie. (Santa Clause with Tim Allen for anyone curious). By “tried” I mean the WiFi is real spotty so we would hold it at weird angles in a specific part of the church while standing on one leg to let it load for 10 minutes then take it to our room to watch. Repeated that a few times until the WiFi flaked out completely. Anyways I did those things and still had time before the worship team came for warmup at 9. So I quickly finished hand washing some clothes that I started the day before (uffdah forgot how long that takes). Then I collapsed on our shared “bed” in between Courtney and Katie. By “bed” I mean the couple of mattresses we have squished next to each other on the floor where we all sleep. So anyways I laid down and wrote this little bit in my journal. Church will be soon and thankfully it will be in Spanish AND English!
