A song, phone call, first date, text/email, 5 seconds of insane courage. All of these things seem so small. Sometimes they even hold no meaning. The music playing in the car on the way home from work while talking to your loved one on the phone. But it’s the little things that make us who we are. Every once in awhile during this crazy thing we call life a little thing becomes a huge thing. Like a small feeling of emptiness inside which leads you to The World Race website. That’s when everything changed for me and I don’t plan on going back to the old Bre.
I’ve opened up a lot talking with friends and family since I received the news that I was accepted to the race. Everyone has had a different reaction and different emotions about the news. But one common denominator is that everyone always says something along the lines of “You were born to do this!” or “How do you know this is the right path?”. Last night as I was laying in bed I was thinking about these conversations and I was empowered by the first statement. I realized that my loved ones from home will be with me while I’m gone and giving me strength when I think I’m in over my head. The answer to the question how do I know, well that’s simple. I found my peace about the trip in prayer. God has taken the doubt from me so it has to be the right path. Then he directed me to route 4 (K squad) and after meeting them I know one thing is for sure, I belong with K squad!
