“I think it’s interesting that in the church today, so many of us ask, “Why is prayer necessary?” And we may not ask it but we really don’t show it with our lives that prayer is necessary. You know why I think we ask that question? Because you don’t need prayer when you’re watching TV. And we don’t need prayer when we’re mindlessly surfing the internet; we don’t need prayer then. You don’t need prayer when there’s nothing at stake in your walk with Christ. You don’t need prayer when there’s no risk in Christianity. You don’t need prayer when Christianity consists of a monotonous religious motion of routine week-in and week-out. You don’t need prayer for that; you can do that on your own. But when you risk everything to glorify Jesus Christ, you need prayer. When you sacrifice your possessions, your dreams, your hopes, and your career, and you lay it all on the line and you stake your reputation down on your allegiance to Christ, you need prayer. And when your longing day-in and day-out is to lead people to faith in Christ, you need prayer, you rely on prayer, you are desperate for prayer because you are devoted to His mission. And when the aim of your life is to affect as many people with the Gospel of Christ for the Glory of Christ, you will find yourself given over to prayer.” – David Platt
Prayer is not fickle. Prayer is not mundane. Prayer is not routine.
It is a direct, one-on-one conversation with the Creator of the universe, the Redeemer of the World, the Designer of our hearts, and our Greatest Love.
Prayer is for desperate people. People desperate for change. People desperate for strength. People desperate for love. People desperate for Jesus Christ.
I am asking you, right now, to pray.
Pray for me – for boldness, for clarity, for peace of mind.
Pray for my family and loved ones I will leave behind for a year.
Pray for God to show off and deliver the funds I need to make my journey.
Pray for God to prepare the hearts of the people I will encounter in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, China, Thailand, Cambodia, India & Nepal.
And most of all, pray for people to come to know Jesus Christ because of the Holy Spirit working in and through my squad on our journey.
God is leaning in to our prayers, eagerly awaiting your every word, and I appreciate you lifting me up to Him. And I challenge you – live your life in such a way that you need prayer. Live for something Greater than yourself and lay down your life so that others may truly live.
All my love,
Bre
