So here it is, the Superbowl of Christianity. Easter weekend. Its 5 in the morning right now and I think God woke me up early today to make sure I spent a little extra time with Him.
It really amazes me that the creator of all has a deep personal interest in spending time with me. Just to talk and grow closer together.
It amazes me that this isn’t just a religion its a relationship. In fact its only a religion by dictionary definition but not existentialy.
It amazes me that God in all his grandeur uses a still small voice to call all of us. That He yearns deeply for all of us to spend time with Him.
That is what it very simply boils down to doesn’t it? God simply asks us to love Him, spend time with Him, grow in Him, and be obedient to whatever crazy thing He may ask us to do. Of course that’s easier said than done. Because that requires giving up certain things that we love to do. Sometimes God really turns your life upside down and asks things from us that we really do not want to give up. Sometimes its things that aren’t necessarily bad for us. But just because it isn’t bad does it mean that its good for us either. Example, there was a guest pastor that came to my church roughly a month ago or so. He had never had a problem with drinking excessively. Drinking alcohol isn’t a sin, drinking alcohol in excess is though. So he wasn’t sinning. But when he asked God to show him what area in his life did he need to grow in. What was in his life that could cause someone else to not accept the kingdom of God. God answered that he needed to quit drinking. Again he wasn’t a drunk or even drinking frequently. But that fact that someone from the church could see that and get the wrong idea could cause someone to fall out from the church. So just because it wasn’t bad did it mean it was good. Just because something isn’t a sin does it mean it’s glorifying to God. So thus He asks things from us we don’t want to give up. But then what do you love more? Your father or yourself? It is so easy to choose ourselves but that’s not where any of us are called to be. So I challenge you to seek out what God has in store for you. He may ask for nothing more than just some time from you to spend with Him. Allow Him to reveal Himself in your life and just be humble.
In His service,
