After the sun rises on Galway…I’m gently brought to consciousness by the buzzing alarm of my wrist watch. Before I open my eyes…I usually listen to the weather…shielded by my tent. This typically confirms my new greatest fears…WIND and RAIN!!!

My eyes flutter open to a disheveled tent home. Laundry is quite likely hanging from the roof…with my team’s breakfast foods under one rain fly and a pile of shoes under the other – all seeking shelter to keep dry.

It is decision time…with the realization that it‘s still cold…it‘s still rainy…it‘s still windy…and I’ve packed for African summers not Ireland winters…LAUGH or CRY!?!

I take a second to once again get over myself…throw on some running clothes and meet my teammate, Kendra Baird, on her front porch (tent located 3 feet away) to run the shores and streets of Galway before ministry begins.

I kid…I kid…well mostly. It actually isn’t winter in Ireland, but I don’t think the rain clouds know any different. Apparently we’ve been “blessed” with an unseasonable amount of rain and wind for August. And to be honest…the sun has shown…at least twice…since we’ve been here. J Glorious days!! Ireland is truly a very green and beautiful country!

So life on the race…for the most part…is serving in ministry for six days and taking a one day sabbath. This past Friday we enjoyed our sabbath at the Cliffs of Moher – perhaps the only place in Ireland windier than our campsite!!!
