As I approached a few young lads in the park with a “hey guys…what’s up?”…they excitedly exclaimed…”Will Ferrell just told us about Jesus!” I laughed as I glanced around the park wondering if I just missed a Will Ferrell sighting in Ireland. Not seeing any large crowds forming, I turned my attention back to the boys.
Street evangelism has proven much easier than I ever imagined and do I daresay, even enjoyable. Because the truth is…people are seeking. Even the guy who initially declares himself an atheist may linger…question…and wrestle…as I point towards a building and declare…”if I told you that building…with all of it’s intricacies…appeared out of nowhere last night…would you believe me?
Of course not.
Even though we do not see a builder…we know one exists.
Then how can you believe that you…who is extensively more detailed than that building…came from nothing?
And the conversation sparks.
But the most amazing conversations…are those in which God has so clearly gone before you. Here’s a picture snapped by my teammate, Ashlee Hillis, as I had the blessing of sharing the Gospel with a man I‘ll leave unnamed.

As the conversation was coming to a close…he had the most perplexed expression on his face…”I’ve never let anyone before you share anything like this with me before…but I’ve been giving it all a lot of thought lately.” “I hope to see you Sunday!” I said with a smile. A man who is a recovering drug and alcohol addict (been clean for awhile now), who has been hurt by his experience in the church thus far…is still seeking.
Tonight…as I’m sitting in a hotel/bar (bumming free wi-fi near our camp site), one of the older local gentlemen engaged in conversation. Believe me when I tell you that I was far more concerned with writing a blog than I was witnessing to him…but I have learned when God opens a door…you walk through it. And as he walked out the door later that evening…we said our farewells over a smile…at the thought that we just might see each other at church on Sunday.
I have no idea what Sunday will bring…but that isn’t going to stop me from following the likes of Will Ferrell and telling them about Jesus. 🙂
As it turns out…Will Ferrell was not witnessing in the parks of Galway this week…but my squad mate Colby Long was out in full force. I’ll let you appreciate the similarities.
