I know…I know…you are waiting for the blog entry written from the pits of Africa…believe me so am I…but until then…God has placed my feet on the streets of Bulgaria…and who am I to stop them if they happened to walk into a Starbucks?!? J
We’re back in Sofia, the capitol city. And the way God continues to put together the puzzle pieces in this country is nothing short of amazing. We ask…we seek…we pray…and He provides…someone to meet us in train/bus stations…someone who speaks English…someone to look after us..someone obedient to His call.
Have you ever been the answer to someone else’s prayers? Perhaps that concept…above all the other mysteries in the world fascinates me most…God uses us.
We’re hooked up with Mission Possible for a few days. The director is the brother of the pastor of the first church we attended in Bulgaria (where we attended the wedding).
But today – we enjoyed a much needed day off! So a couple of us maneuvered the bus system to the local Starbucks where we met up with Kali (the girl who originally met us at the train station and walked us to the church). Bulgaria is getting smaller by the day!
Anyway – Starbucks…long story short – on my return trip from the counter, a fellow patron asked me if I could recommend sights in Sofia. Considering it was with a foreign accent, I immediately assumed he was from Bulgaria — I’m clearly not, so I privately questioned his motive.
But what started out as small talk…effortlessly turned to faith. (Helps when you are on this crazy World Race!)
And out of nowhere it dawns on me…”Oh geez Lord – do you want me to witness to them?” I silently prayed.
Hearing no objections…
45 minutes later…3 twenty-something Jewish guys from Israel knew all about my Jesus!
And to think they came to Bulgaria for vacation…and went to Starbucks for coffee…
and God met them there…
because He loves them.
“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.” Romans 1:16
