Going into this month, I really had no idea what it would actually be like. I knew that our team was going to be partnering with a church that has a school of 600 students attached to it, but that was basically all I knew. Once we had met with the pastor, Juan, he explained to us that we will be teaching English and religion in the school 4 days a week.

I was originally curious why we came to this ministry location just to teach children at school. I mean, they already have teachers for that right? But Juan told us that sometimes you just need to be. Be still, listen to the LORD, and be present. That reminded me of something that I had realized when I was in college. Ministry doesn’t always look like walking up to random people on the street and asking if they have a relationship with the LORD. Although that looks and sounds cool, I don’t think that type of ministry has as much potential to have a long term impact as others might. Don’t get me wrong, street ministry can work really well, but sometimes there’s better ways to share the LORD with someone. In our case, the LORD is calling us to be Jesus to these kids. If we do that then everything else will follow.

For those wondering what our schedule might look like, here you go:

Sunday: Church and miscellaneous ministry

Monday: Our Sabbath Day. They have school on Monday, but Juan has given us this day to rest.

Tuesday: School from 8-1 then 3-6. Chilean schools give their kids a break from 1-3.

Wednesday: School from 8-1 then 3-6.

Thursday: School from 8-1 then 3-6.

Friday: School from 8-1. Then kid ministry with their church plant at 7.

Saturday: Free Day

So that’s a quick explanation of the ministry that we will be doing this month in Chile. As of the time that I’m writing this, we have only been at the school for introductions on Tuesday. But tomorrow is our first real day at school. I’ll try to update you as our ministry progresses. If you have any questions comment below and I’ll try to answer them!

Also! I am on track to have all but $1500 raised by deadline at the end of November. If anyone reading would be interested in supporting me, the link to donate is right above you! If you have any questions about donating (not just technical questions, but all questions), please contact me through the “Contact Me” page on the left. Have a good day!
