i don’t even know where to start, the people of Nepal are a broken fearful mess, so many lifes lost so many homes lost, and so many people living in tents now cause of the quakes, the ones that have lost there homes will most likely be living in tents for a year or more, the ones that still have homes don’t sleep in them at night cause they are ether to badly damaged or they are just plain scard, lots of fear here, everytime theres an after shock they run in to the streets and freakout, even the ones who’s buildings and houses are perfectly fine, and theres a lot of rumores that theres still spost to be a 8 magnitude or bigger at anytime, witch none of us have been able to find any solid info if thats true on that, Nepal needs lots of prayer, most are hindu and have no hope and so full of fear, pray that they would find the ture one and only living God in this time,
lots and lots of temples and fake gods have been laid in rubble, witch makes me happy 🙂 and the things our squad has been getting from God bout all of it is pretty cool, and y the earth quakes are happening, but i’m not sure if its wise to share that kind of info for some of you might not be in a place with God where you could handle it, but i will say that God has shifted how i pray when i see a temple or fake god, i pray now that he draw the people of Nepal to Him by His spirt and that they come to know him and turn to rubble all the temples with there own hands and make the sites places of worship to the one true God.
Minsitry started out ok we went out and handed out water and food in verious places throughout the Katmandu vally, as we are world racers, not rescue teams or medics, or disaster trained at all, all we had was our own two hands and the Love of Christ,
on the 12th things kind’a changed, setting on the side of a mountain clearing rubble from a chruch that had fallen to rebuild it the 2nd quake hit Nepal, (27.45.20-85.42.58. was our location at time of the 7.3) i was standing by my tent, only one other squad mate by me, i’ll never forget the sound the earth made, as it started to shake a lil at first you could hear the earth growning as the bigger waves of the quake came, then it was as if the earth became a sea of rolling waves for bout 15 secs, bearly able to stand the terrance above me, the one i was on, and the one below all moved up and down in what looked like bout 3ft waves, i moved over to a tree to grab hold of that was jolting around so much i could hardly get my hand on it, it felt like for a min the whole side of the mountain was bout to come off, below buildings and houses culapesed and landslides gaveway sending up clouds of dust and Nepal people screaming from below, the other squad mate that was by me i will never forget the look on her face, i quickly went over and hugged her and said it would be ok, some of our guys ran down to the lower parts of the mountain to see if everyone was ok below where the screaming was and lots of dust, there was quite a few big after shocks, we quickly packed or tents up to hike to the top of the mountain where it was safer, (witch was a pretty brutal climb with our packs, but we’ve all grown quite custom to treking up and down mountains) once up top bout 20 of us went in to the lower main village to help, at the time there was said to be 2 dead and over 100 injured, some of us got separated from the main group that went deeper into the village, (normaly if we are in a big group i hold to the back of the line to make sure no one gets left or lost) me and 5 of the women ended up finding some familys that where building tents cause there houses ether fell or was to messed up to stay in, so i dug bout 6 or 7 post holes and set post while two went to cut some big bamboo poles and the others played and loved on the kids and familys as well as help with the poles, was getting dark and had to head back so didn’t finish tent for them but was pretty close,
i will addmit that for a min i thought to myself y did you keep me back here God and not deeper in the village where it was hit the worst where i could be of better use? was there something there i couldn’t handle or not strong enough for? but even before i could finish that thought God was like just trust that I have you where I want you, not because you are not able, but because you are where you are spost to be, so being humbled i joyfully dug holes with only a bar and my two hands,
the hardest part of it all is that fact that us white people can just pack up and leave and those that live there who’s houses are gone, loved ones lost, and there mental securty gone for the people are so full of fear, and to top it off will have to live in tents as monsoon season is bout to start, its heart brakeing, even what we carry on our backs is more then a lot of the people have left,
The coolest part through it all is how God has been so clearly with us durring the quake and the days after when we was stuck on the top of that mountain, in the mist of all the caous the peace and joy of the Lord was so strong in our whole squad, was pretty awesome, espceially for me in light of what i’ve lost two weeks before, then the earth quake i truely know what Jesus means when he calls the holy spirt the comfortor, when i have every reason to be messed up in a time like this i have been the total oposit, i have been more full of peace and joy and love and freedom to be myself that theres no other thing it can be but God, only God carrying me through 🙂 only God! its as if He has litarully picked me up and threw me on His back to lead on as i just hang on to Him and go where He go’s,
when we got back from that mountain the trauma of what happend started to really set in and the squad kind’a had a melt down, but thankfully we have some awesome team leaders, squad leaders, and the awesome staff in the AIM office, we had 3 days off then some of us went back to do’n minsistry and a few stayed back to better process stuff,
the last week of minstry we put together food bags of rice and stuff, each bag was bout 20lbs of rice and we all carried at least two, and went to areas that where hit hard and had no aid yet, witch involved trecking up and down mountains,
Nepal is definitely on my bucket list to go back to one day and do all the adventure stuff and trek a few snow capped mountains, oh and just fyi the Himalayans are some beautiful big mountains, did i mention there BIG haha, oh and the food in Nepal is pretty awesome too, they even have mexican, like liget mexican like south texas, not the ucky stuff in east tx haha
but for now Nepal still needs lots of prayer, thou our time there is over, Nepal will always have a spceail place in our hearts, i know it dose in mine,
