So today I was driving home when I plugged my ipod in. I haven't used my ipod since getting my new phone. A tragic loss of all the music on my phone is what prompted this use of the old thing. I turned it on shuffle, and as always skipped a bunch of songs until I heard one that I liked. Then after about ten songs had played some of which it had been years since I had heard. I realized that I could recall every word from so many different songs. I sang along to every word with songs i hadn't heard in over a year. I had almost no problem remembering every word. Why is it that I can remember songs like this but when I try to remember something biblical I have trouble? My first thought was that songs just stick better then plain words. That just didn't sit right with me. So it continued to bug me. I then started thinking about back in elementary school, we used to start every day off with the pledge of allegiance. That's when it hit me. Repetition is the key! After realizing this I remembered back in high school choir. When ever we would get a new song we would sing in almost everyday for 30 about a month. When questioned about it my teacher once said, "once you hear it 30 times it will be in your brain forever." Thinking about this the rest of the day i have come up with a challenge for myself. To which i also petition you, my readers to try and do the same. For the next 35 days I will read Romans 12 every day, I will write it every day, also I will say it every day. Then at the end of the 35 days I will attempt to sit down without going over it and write it out from memory. To keep myself honest when I attempt to write it out, I will actually sit down and type it out, then without any revision I am going to post it as is. I will keep a running count of my days at the end of every blog it will just look like this "5/35" I know I only kind of slipped it in there but I am challenging YOU!!! I want as many people as i can get to try to do this with me. One of the biggest parts of being a wise Christian is to know what your Bible is telling you to do. Which is why I chose Romans 12. Join me as I embark on my 35 day journey!!
