Let’s just start out by saying that The World Race wasn’t my first choice. It sounded really cool and the testimony from an African woman brought tears to my eyes. “But, that’s pretty hardcore and I’m just not ready. Maybe in a year or two…” So about five months ago I decided that I would go to either Jerusalem or Kenya for a couple weeks and see how I liked this missions stuff that Jesus had been telling me about.

A night or two later, I was in some pretty intense worship at The Promise. I was praying about which mission trip to go on and telling Papa that “I’m all in”. “I’ll do whatever you want Jesus!” Then I heard Him say, “You told Me your all in so go big or go home”! Well I knew what that meant. So I got on The World Race website and started looking at potential routes. I had pretty well decided on January 2012 because it gave me plenty of time to raise the money. I found myself back at The Promise worshipping and this time as I’m praying for direction, He says, “Go on the route that ends in Africa, because you won’t ever want to leave and part of you never will.” So I get back online and find out that the only route ending in Africa is October 2011. I sent in my application and the rest is history.

I tell you all of this to establish that even though I am jumping out of my skin excited, this all started because He told me too. I’m starting to learn that when God tells me to do something, it’s a pretty good idea to comply. Ok, so now we fast forward to the week after training camp (mid July). I had a few fundraiser ideas and hadn’t sent out my support letters. So I was amping myself up for a big support raising push when Holy Spirit told me that He wanted me to rest in Him and be with my family while I could instead of worrying about money. Now, one of the main topics of question pertains to support and initially when people would ask me how support is going I would shrug my shoulders and say, “I don’t know”. As He grows my faith, my answers for that question get progressively better!

When He first told me this, I would go on our support site and dwell on the fact that the number wasn’t going up. He told me that I didn’t need to look at it anymore so I haven’t and don’t plan on it unless He tells me to do otherwise. I am completely blind to the finance aspect of my trip, which is really amazing.

“After Jesus left the girl’s home, two blind men followed along behind him, shouting, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” They went right into the house where he was staying, and Jesus asked them,“Do you believe I can make you see?” “Yes, Lord,” they told Him, “we do.” Then He touched their eyes and said, “Because of your faith, it will happen.” Matthew 9:27-29

Wait so blind men followed Him and went as far as to walk into the house He was staying in? Blind? They didn’t even have use of their eyes and yet knew Him to be the Son of God and FOLLOWED Him?! He has asked me to close my eyes so that through faith, I will receive a deeper revelation of Who He Is.

“…for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matt 6:32-33

Through all of this, He has shown me that I need not worry about anything but that I should seek and love Him. I’ll be honest I just had to ask the Lord to boost my faith so that what I say next, I truly believe! I am fully supported and I thank you Jesus for paving the way!!!!!!
