Training camp…In order to give the greatest of detail about what went down last week, I would need an unlimited supply of hot pockets and toaster strudels because that is how long it would take me to write all of the awesome experience on one blog. For the sake of keeping you all up to date while continuing to keep you all interested, I will give you the top three crazy things that happened to me at camp.

  1. His love is an ocean, a bottomless sea.

While at camp, I attained freedom. Freedom from things buried so deep down that I had no idea they even existed. My fears and issues of rejection were given up to Jesus. Freedom is a choice made everyday, and I am choosing it! The love of God was made so prevalent in me this week that I just allowed Him to hold me up. If you have no idea what it means to be loved by God, talk to me because I have so much to say about it.

  1. The little things become luxurious.

There were times during camp that we had to pack up everything so when we got to spend more than a day in the same place, it was a good day. Or when we were surprised with coffee and cookies instead of exercise time in the morning, we celebrated. We had the chance to appreciate everything that we take advantage of  daily.

  1. Fire Disciples.

The middle of the week was centered around team formations. After two days of rigorous team building games, the squad leaders and trainers tailored the teams within our squad and I was actually asked to be one of seven team leaders. This is a huge honor and a huge responsibility. Our team name is the Fire Disciples because we are going to light a fire for Christ wherever we go this year and He is going to light a fire within us as well. Let me brag on the awesomeness of this team for a second…They are so awesome that Chuck Norris wrote on my Facebook wall and said that he would allow each of us to give him an honorary roundhouse kick to the face! I'm pretty sure that covers the magnitude of the Fire Disciples' coolness.

There will be more to come about training camp undoubtedly. But I want you all to be aware that this is real. In a matter or a couple of months, I am going to board a plane to Africa, probably Kenya and I will be abandoning everything for 11 months.  Please continue praying for me because I will not be able to do this without your prayers for God’s support and providence.  Part of this reality is that I still have many thousands of dollars to raise for this ministry. Your support is crucial in allowing me to follow my calling to be here. If you are led to do so, please make a check out to Adventures in Missions writing “Brandon Barnum’s Race” in the memo line and send it to:
