Uganda.

The land is beautiful and the markets are booming. But the people are dying. God is present and so is the Enemy. I want to share with you the reality of the world and a little bit of my place in it. There is a war happening in Busia, Uganda. Not the kind of war that uses guns and weapons of mass destruction but the kind of war that takes life away just the same, even worse. When we first walked into the border city of Busia our whole team felt oppression. As we spent some time here, we began to see it. Hundreds of people infected with polio no longer have use for their legs and travel on tricycles controlled by their hands. Electricity, and therefore internet, is scarce in the whole area. The border to Kenya is only yards away and yet it seems like miles to those bound in a complacent state of life. Oppression. It is tangible and we can feel it.

Allow me to shake up your world a little bit…I am a prophet. I’ll be willing to bet that you didn’t know that about me. I didn’t really know that myself until recent months. But, I have been given a gift of discernment and prophesy by the God whom I love. I believe that many of you are the same way, if you’re willing to ask God about it. God speaks to me and allows me to understand the world around me. I am still learning and developing my gift, but when I hear God tell me that I am going to cast out demons I believe Him. I’ll save that story for my next blog. I just want you to understand the world in which I am living. Dark, intense, powerful, oppressed, and I am here to bring the light of Jesus to force out the darkness. Since I have been here I have seen backs healed of pain, street children fed, students ask about the reality of Jesus, and lives being saved into eternity with Jesus Christ. My challenge to you is this. Stop for a minute after reading this blog, or an hour, or a day, and pray to God asking Him to show you His world. Ask Him to open your eyes to the stuff that’s happening around you and ask Him to give you the weapons that you need to push back the darkness and bring the light of Christ to this world. I may be a missionary around the globe but you are a missionary right where you are. You are needed to strengthen the church and to get a little crazy for Jesus. I am challenging you to stop sitting there saying that someone else will take care of the world. I love you all so much and I pray for you often. Keep fighting.
