So if you haven’t already heard, we found out a couple days ago that Nicaragua denied our access into their country so we had a little swerve and stopped in Panama for the month instead.
So because of that, we had to stay in the city for a few days while we find our new hosts for the month.
Because we are in a new city and had the day off a couple friends and I decided to head to the beach.
At the beach we noticed there was a little island not too far from the shore so we decided it would be a good idea to swim out to it obviously…so after walking about 100 yards into the water we had been battered and bruised by way too many rocks because the water only came up to our knees.
We quickly decided to turn around because we didn’t really see much point anymore to keep going. As soon as we turned around though, we realized the tide had gone all the way in and the trek back was way longer than it took to get out there.
As I headed back on to shore, I found myself caught in the laughter of what this so called “adventure” ended up being because it’s easy to grumble & complain but it’s a lot more fun to laugh at how ridiculous something may seem.
I think there are a lot of times in my life that I try to swim out to the island though.
From afar it looks like a piece of cake. Like a quick little jump into the water and your at your destination. Once you get trekking though, it’s easy to get caught up on each rock that you stub your toe on. It’s even easy to look at it and say it wasn’t worth it ever. I also know that if I don’t ever try to swim out to the islands in life though that I’d always be stuck staring from ashore at what could be.
It sucks to get stuck in a wave but often those are the best moments to look back on.
Don’t stop because it sucks, keep going because one day you may need this moment to laugh at when your stuck in the waves later on in life.
