Perhaps you were created for such a time as this. To speak to a certain person at a certain time- at a pivotal point in their life that they could use a certain word from our loving Father.

One thing I’ve particularly been trying to be intentional about is saying “yes” when I feel the Lord prompting me. The most recent prompt, however, was a little weird. “Tell her she’s a butterfly.” I’m sorry, what?? This is literally one of the weirdest things You’ve asked me to do thus far. Tell someone’s she’s a butterfly?? Nah, I misheard. It’s just my thoughts all over the place.

Repeatedly I saw butterflies circling this girl, and I saw her wrapped up. Little did I know, she was wrapped up in the Father’s love-being strengthened and molded for something. You see, I was at youth retreat over the weekend, and I had the privilege of watching young students being transformed by Jesus.

Finally, after we finished our end of service worship, I stepped over and pulled her aside before she left the room. “I feel like God wants to tell you something, and He wants me to tell you. You’re a butterfly.” Suddenly, the words just flowed from me, Jesus gave me every word she needed to hear.

“Bare with me, this is going to sound weird. I feel Jesus wants you to know that you’re a butterfly…right now, you’re in your cocoon, nestled in the Father’s arms. He’s molding you and shaping you to the young woman He’s designed you to be. Other people may only view you as a caterpillar, but He views you as a butterfly. Strong and resilient. Strong enough to fight and break out of that cocoon, and fly away. Fly into the plans that Jesus has for you, go out into the world and do what He wants you to do. Butterflies are beautiful, and people stop and look in awe at them. That’s what you are. Worthy, beautiful, and so loved.”

My beautiful friend, you see, we are all butterflies. Some of us are still in that cocoon stage, some are still in the caterpillar stage, but God wants us to be fully transformed and transition into the beautiful design that He’s planned for us.

I pray that you find the stage that you’re in, and fully embrace it. The cocoon stage is a time of accepting where you are, and growing in strength while there. I truly feel like this young woman is about to break free, and fly the path God has laid out for her. Pray for her and this time in her life, as going into high school is stressful and pivotal in our students’s walks with Christ.
