Wow, sorry I’m a bit late to the party! Vietnam was incredible! The whole country never sleeps; whether we were traveling at 2am, 6 am, or 11 pm- the shops were open and people were up and running around. It was such a drastic change from Africa: Like on Sunday’s places are closed or close early, people are slow paced, and the city seemed to always be asleep.
While in Vietnam, we spent most of our days teaching English, teaching English, oh, and teaching English! We’d teach super young children, we’d teach middle school aged kids, teenagers, and people my grandparents age. English club was awesome!
Some of my favorite memories were when we’d sing songs with the kids, and just be goofy and real with them. The first time I realized how truly blessed I was with our ministry for the month was when one of the students asked if he could sing me a Vietnamese song. Paul and I quickly became friends, and we’d sing all kinds of songs together. He’s a cool kid, and his whole family was amazing and so welcoming!
We danced to a traditional Vietnamese songs for Christmas, we tried (and failed) to sing a Vietnamese song for a farewell ceremony, and we played soccer with the kids…you could say weren’t exactly soccer stars.
Vietnam was incredible, and I’ll never forget my time there! From climbing up a waterfall, hiking through coffee fields up a mountain, to a mega bed with 7 girls squeezed together really tight, to spending Christmas in Da Nang, Vietnam with my new team.

Jamie and Kearstin walking through a river. We farmed in the morning, and hiked through the coffee fields.

A Christmas Eve feast! Tenaya (our team vegetarian) and Kearstin…here we see a whole chicken foot that was in our bowl
