Today while reading my Bible, I came across a scripture that I’ve always been aware of, but it hasn’t really meant much to me until deciding to come on this trip.
Matthew 8:19-22 mentions on of the disciples telling Jesus he will follow Him anywhere. Jesus replies with the warning “…the Son of Man has no place to even lay His head.” Jesus is pretty much telling them that if they choose to follow Him, they won’t have a home or even may not have a place to stay.
That’s a scripture that really motivated me while praying about going on this journey. I was excited for the opportunity to live a life similar to the disciples, not knowing where I would/could sleep, not really having a home, but traveling through all the nations declaring the love of the Father.
Following Jesus is not always easy or comfortable, often it involves cost and sacrifices with no earthly rewards or security. Being a Christian may cost you friendships, certain habits, and sometimes even family members. While the costs of being Christ’s disciple may be high, the benefits last for eternity.
Are you willing to pay that price? Are you willing to make the sacrifices that go along with following Jesus?
