Wow, 2020! A new year, new team, new continent. God was so good in 2019, and I’m excited to see all that he’s going to do in 2020!
As I come to the end of our time in Vietnam, I want to shine some light on what I’ve seen the past few days…
I’ve seen young Vietnamese girls with older white men. I’ve seen 10-15 year olds who have already been groomed to dance and act provocatively. I’ve seen young girls dressed inappropriately standing on street corners. I’ve seen drunk girls being carried off by men. Basically, I’ve seen my first bout of human trafficking.
I’ve learned how to recognize sex workers, and I’ve learned how to recognize their pimps. I’ve developed a bigger understanding and love for these girls.
As we head further into Asia, the red light district, and sex trafficking hubs, I want to ask for your prayers. I have a heart for women and children who have been forced, sold, or chosen to live the life of a sex worker. I want the chance to volunteer at a center/refuge for these women and children, and I ask that you pray for the discretion that is needed in this field.
Our first month in a closed country was interesting; you can’t just walk up to someone and talk about Jesus. But we can show the love of Jesus through our kind words and our actions.
As my beloved youth pastors at home say, “Be Jesus with skin on.” Live your life in a way that Jesus would. Treat everyone the way Jesus would. Have no regrets in your actions, because you act how Jesus would.
Thank you for reading my blog! I love y’all lots!
Lots of love form Vietnam,
Brandi
