The following
is my fourth edition of “You Know You’re A World Racer When.”
Each of these
are specific to our ministry here in Honduras and the life that we are now
living.
you might not understand, so sorry for the confusion. If you have a question
about one, feel free to ask!
For the ones
that have a person’s name after the statement, feel free to click on their name
and read what God is doing through them with being on The World Race.
Shout out to
my squad mates for helping me come up with so many of these.
As always,
enjoy! (Oh, and comments are ENCOURAGED!) 🙂
Laundry is a three day process.
Your internet access is limited to once a week,
yay for Fridays!
You have a ranking of smell of your clothes;
fourth day, ehh smell is about a 6,
let’s go for it!
put your toilet paper in a trash can.

“I’ll feedback that later” becomes a normal
phrase.
You actually do talk about poop every day; past
racers are not just pulling your leg.
You either rebuke or receive statements from your
squad.
Your entire route gets changed two days before
leaving for the race.
You want to feedback people every five minutes.
You are not fazed by kids attacking you on an
hourly basis.
You are also not fazed by being showered with
kisses from the same kid’s minutes later.
look could be a bed (Mary Middleton).

You get dreads within the first 24 hours of being
on the field (Haley Jandrlich).
You give sweet arm hugs (EJ Muller).
You want to eat everyone’s leftovers.
There are never “leftovers” because someone will
always eat it.
You don’t care that anyone else smells.
You don’t care if your computer is broken during
week one (Joan Moore).
Sitting on the ground 90% of the day is just
normal life.
You wear your work clothes to bed because you know
you’re not going to be showering anytime soon.
You get attacked by a dog on your morning run and
need stitches (Micah Hubbard).
You play hacky sack all day long (Marcie Wallace).
dogs that feel like they are your own.

You don’t shower for a week.
You realize you are showering more on The World
Race than you did for your “World Race Prep” in the states (ME).
You bring a guitar with you when you don’t know
how to play.
You come up with different hairstyles for your
hair for different days.
The pattern of your hair goes from wearing your hair
down; to throwing a headband on; then wearing a hat….next you should probably
shower.
Your bathroom and showers are co-ed, enough said.
You flock toward donuts that one of the boys
brought back from the city.
the ice cream truck came in because everyone flocks to the store.

somewhere to sit.
God uses your hands to heal someone for the very
first time (Carter Gannon).
You sit in a candle lit room for two hours singing
praise to your Heavenly Father.
The spirit intercedes for you in your weakness.
Going to bed at 9:30 pm after your first work day
is real life.
Being on an all girls team is a major blessing,
shout out to Team OIL!
Feedback becomes more than a time to sit down with
your team, but a time to bond together and speak life.
refuge.

the lights go out.
You wake up to the sound of your squad mates
talking in the room.
You are extremely blessed by the boys that were
once street kids, but now have an immense passion and love for the Lord.
You look forward to sharing your testimony with
people and hearing about what God has done in their lives as well.
You realize you are so blessed to have a private
bus driver take you where you need to go.
You are completely expecting months 2-11 to not be
as luxurious as month 1.
You understand the slogan from WR alumni “Hurry up
and wait.”
Your team has so many inside jokes and its only
week one (rub rub).
It’s week one and two people on your team have
already pooped their pants, yes this is real life.
You can feel the presence of God wherever you are.
