Today I sat in on a loan meeting.

Today I evangelized in our village.

Today I saw God divinely pave our path.

After breakfast I was sitting with our Pastor George and
sharing with him about my experiences working with Microfinance in Nairobi,
Kenya. He then proceeded to invite his wife, Florence to join in on the
conversation. She then shared with me that she was getting ready to go to a
meeting with some fellow women. She is a part of a microfinance loan group here
in this small village in Uganda.

The family invited me to go and share with them about my
experiences and to share the gospel. I invited my other business minded
teammate, Kayla to join me in the meeting. We
went and I shared with them about what we were doing, my experiences in Kenya,
and then about 1 Corinthians 12.
I was soon hurried to pray because the
women needed to get back to their jobs to make money.

As Kayla and I were walking back to our house with Pastor
George a lady was speaking in Ugandan to George then they invited us over to
talk. George shared with us that she saw
that we carried a lot of joy and that we were bringing hope and peace to
Uganda.
Kayla and I looked at each other and smiled because our hearts were
in agreeance to what she was saying. She then shared that there was a sick lady
in her home that needed prayer. We went and we prayed with her and another lady
that was also sick. One of the ladies in
the home had requested that we go to school right then because her son was sick
and she wanted us to pray for healing over him as well.
George shared with
her that we would go back later that night to pray for him once he was out of
school.

We soon returned home for our 10 o’clock scheduled time
of evangelism in the village. We met up with the rest of the team and headed
out to visit a neighbor close by. George requested that two people stay at the
neighbor’s home to share with Irene, one of the youth from the church, so Kayla
and I stayed with her. We shared with her for ten minutes before George’s son, Justice
came to pick us up to take us to the next house. Irene said that she would add us on facebook so that we could stay in
contact. It’s like she already knew my love language was social media.

Justice led us to the next house where we were able to
sit with one of our maid’s and her mother. We
had the opportunity to pray for all of the children to be able to find jobs and
for one of her sons to be delivered from his addiction to alcohol.
After praying
we were sent on our way to the next home.

We arrived at a home of three men; the father James, and
two of his sons, Jackson and Dixon. We were able to talk with them and
encourage them as they were all believers. Dixon had asked each of us to share
with them how we came to know Christ so each of us shared a short testimony of
how we had made it to Uganda.

In the midst of talking with the family, a man showed up
at the door. He was talking very loudly and proclaiming,
“I am a drunkard! I
am an alcoholic!”
The
family invited him to sit down with us and join in on the conversation. He
refused and said, “No, I am a drunk, how could I join you in this home?” He
eventually joined in on our conversation and just as it was about us and our
mission we switched over to talking about him. The “drunkard’s” name was
Samwell and as he sat before us our team began speaking life into him. Samwell is the son of the lady at the other
house who we had just prayed for deliverance from his alcohol addiction.
This was a divine appointment like I’d never
seen before.
We shared with him that even though the state that he was in
was not good, that Jesus was seeking after him. He constantly said, “But I am
an alcoholic. You can smell the alcohol on my breath.” Again and again we shared
with him that God could use him for the glory of His Kingdom. In Samwell’s
confused state, he continually changed the subject about how unworthy he was.

Our team asked if we would be able to pray for him and as
we all laid hands on him and bowed our heads to pray Samwell asked if he could
pray first. Then out of his mouth Samwell started praying,
“You are my Father,
help me to change my heart. I am sorry that I am a drunkard. I am sorry I smell
like alcohol. I know you are my heavenly Father. Father if I could just reach
and touch you, if I could see you in the physical, if I could just reach and
touch your leg. I want to be changed. I want to be born again.”
Every person in the room was blown away. This
man who was in a state of drunkenness was praying to accept the Lord fully into
his heart. As he finished praying, he asked us to continue to pray for him. Our
team prayed for him for several minutes praying deliverance over him,
forgiveness for his sins, renewing of his mind, and for him to walk out of the
house a changed man. As the prayer ended and a few minutes passed by, Samwell
still said that he was a drunkard. My teammate Rebecca encouraged him to not
say that anymore, but instead to speak life. I told him to change his words
from
“I
am a drunkard”
to “I am a son of God.”
He
agreed to start saying that he was a son of God. Also, he asked where he should
show up to go to church on Sunday. He was a new man in the matter of minutes.

God had ordained our steps to meet his mom and sister
that morning. As well as He had ordained Samwell’s steps to come visit the
family that we had been sharing with.

Here are some photos with some of my teammates, Pastor George, the family, and Samwell.

Here is one with our team and Samwell.

Hours later we are sitting in our bedroom and Samwell walked into our house and I hear
him proclaiming to the family,
“I am born again!” I
cannot imagine how many people, in a matter of a few hours that he had gone
around and shared with stating that he was born again. Our team has the
opportunity to see the life of Samwell changed before our eyes throughout our
three and a half weeks here in Mukono, Uganda. The Lord can use anyone, even a
drunk man who thought he could never change from his ways of over 6 years.

This was our first day of ministry and all of this
happened before noon. How’s that for Africa?

Be praying for Samwell to continue walking and proclaiming
the name of Jesus.

Be praying for our team as evangelism to the village will
be a big part of our ministry here in Uganda.

Thank you all for your prayers, they are moving mountains
here as I am doing ministry daily.
