Hey YOU, Be My Best Friend

2/23/13

This is my approach to life
on and off the race.

When I meet a new person I
want to know about their lives, where the come from, and who they are today.

My teammate, Joan Moore shared with me
tonight a quote that her mom Barbara Moore (HI Momma Moore!!) shared with her
growing up. “There are no such things as
strangers, just friends I haven’t met yet.”
Joan shared that this is so
true of me and my life that whenever I meet someone I want to know the details
about their lives and I am intentional with them.

This holds true in so many
different aspects.

Whether it has been a person
I have met in one of the countries on the race.

Whether it has been an
incoming freshman when I was in college.

Whether it has been a random
person following me on my blog/twitter/facebook.

Whoever you are and however
I have met you, I like to be best friends with people.

As
I am typing this I realize that this desire comes from a desire to be loved.

To be loved just as Christ
loves us.

To be loved and encouraged
in everything He is doing in me.

To be loved by many people
through a simple gesture.

To be loved through an interaction
online.

I
want to be loved, but I also want to show others the love in my heart and where
it comes from.

My love for people has not
always been here.

I’ll be honest that most of
my race I have been searching for time away from my team or away from people in
general.

I so desire to be close to
people and get to know them, but even me, one of the most people person’s you
may ever meet, I need my alone time too.

I
want people to know, feel, taste, see, and experience the love that I have that
comes from Christ.

I
want people to see that no matter your past, no matter how messed up you
are/were, no matter where you are at in life, He can use you for the betterment
of His Kingdom.

He loves you just as you are
and He has a plan for your life.

I want my best friends to
know this, but more importantly I want everyone to know this.

If
my whole life is nothing but a blazing offering for Him then so be it.

If all people remember me
for is the smile and laughter I brought into an atmosphere, then so be it.

I want people to not see me
for who I am on the outside, but who He has created me to be on the inside.
