It all started when I had a throbbing pain in my side one
night while I was waitressing at Acapulco Mexican Grill. I left work early that night and admitted myself in the ER.
Followed by a round of tests including blood work and a CT Scan, the ER Dr.
requested I have an ultrasound done on my gallbladder. Never did I think Id need an ultrasound unless I was pregnant! After
the ultrasound, I met with my family doctor who then sent me to a surgeon in
Angola. My appointment with the surgeon was on a Monday and he stated he wanted
to move forward with surgery.
See
the ironic, God-ordained part of this is that my surgeon happened to be one of
my regular customers in Acapulco. He knew I was leaving on my missions trip
soon and that this was an urgent need. He went out of the room to
have his nurses schedule for a surgery. Another God-ordained part, it just so
happened that someone called in to cancel their surgery for the next day as I
was sitting in the office. The nurses
were able to get me in the very next day for gallbladder removal.
The surgery went fine. I mean I did pass out when they
tried to get me to sit in a chair, but I just stayed overnight and left in the
morning. The next morning my surgeon visited me and told me he wanted to
schedule another CT Scan in a few weeks. He
stated he was not sure everything was okay with my pancreas.
I then again had an appointment scheduled with a
Gastroenterologist (GNI) Doctor, but the earliest they could get me in was
August 12th when I was supposed to fly out August 15th
for my two year commitment to Cambodia. I
knew that God was bigger than that appointment. On a Friday afternoon I
called around to all of the GNI Doctors within reach from Angola, IN. Nothing.
There was nothing available, most Doctors it was a 6-8 week wait to get in. I lost it. I almost hyperventilated. I
freaked out. I lost control. I cried like a baby that night.
Several people told me about the GNI department down in Indianapolis
at IU Health and how fast they were able to get in to see a GNI Doctor. On Monday, with a $961 plane ticket on the
line, I called down to Indianapolis. I shared with them my situation and the
urgency and they told me they would get back with me the following day. While I
was at work the next day I returned a missed call from the office and was told
that I would be able to be seen that
Thursday!!!!
Thursday I went to my appointment and the GNI Doctor
stated that I have some masses on my pancreas and that I have some remaining
calcifications near the gallbladder duct to my small intestine. The Doctor gave me two options. Number one: Stay stateside for a year
and take two medications every day for the next year to see if they stones clear
up naturally. Number two: Have an
ERCP done where they put a tube down my throat to suck up the remaining stones.
I picked number two, seeing as following
the surgery Id be able to launch to Cambodia on my August 15th
launch date.
Monday,
August 5th Ill have my second surgery in a matter of 28 days.
Please be praying that the surgery goes
smoothly, there is a small percentage chance that something could go wrong
which could push back my departure date.
Satan
has tried. He has tried to tear me down. He has tried to take away my joyful
spirit.
But
HERE I AM saying that my God is a provisional God. Here I am saying that my God sees my heart. Here I am saying that I hear clearly from
the Lord and I know He said September. Here
I am saying Lord send me! Here I am saying how awesome and GOOD my God is.
My God is providing for me. To date, the Lord has provided upwards of $16,000 in support and
monthly commitments for me to go to Cambodia. I am still in need of about
$7,000 to go. I am encouraging others to come alongside me in monthly support
with anything between $20 – $100. Please email me at [email protected] if you are at
all interested in learning more about supporting me.
