So we are out of Vietnam and finally have the password off the blog (praise the Lord). Marin and I are currently with the entire squad at debrief in Jinja, Uganda. Debrief is essentially a time to recharge and refocus. We have some teaching and worship every night, but other than that it is quite laid back. Honestly, it has been wonderful. Our last week in Vietnam was a blast but it was BUSY. We helped serve Thanksgiving meal at Master’s cup on Thursday and were there working pretty much all day on Wednesday and Thursday of last week.
Vietnam was the most difficult country to leave thus far. I made a lot of friends and it felt like we were just touching the surface of friendship when we had to leave. One of favorite new friends is Mai. Mai is the manager at Masters Cup. Marin and I both spent a lot of time with Mai. Mai bought Marin a stuffed animal bunny (which Marin has been sleeping with) and she bought me a pork bun (such a smart girl right) before we left. Even though we wont be able to keep in touch with everybody we met, we plan on keeping in touch with Mai and a few other friends we made via email and facebook.
One of my highlights in Vietnam was seeing two people accept the Lord in Church right before communion. Pastor Jerry was explaining how communion is for believers in Jesus after sharing his message and 2 people raised their hands and said they wanted to become believers right during the middle of the service. One of the Vietnamese attenders led them in prayer and explained what it means to confess Jesus with their mouth and believe with their heart. After that, everyone in the room prayed for them and they took communion with us.
In terms of Uganda, we literally have no idea what we will be doing yet. All I know is we will be in Kampala. That is about the extent of what I have for now but I’ll hopefully have another update once we get into ministry this month. Also, if you are expecting a post card from me, they are in the mail, but they will take about 4-5 weeks.
Thanks for reading everyone!
Below is a picture of us with some of the friends we made in Vietnam. I played Luan (the guy in orange) in tennis and he whooped by butt!
