Costa Rica is considered one of the most beautiful countries in the world, and because of this, it is a relatively popular tourist destination. While certain parts of the country are affluent, large pockets remain in poverty. The average GDP per person in Costa Rica is $12,874. Even though this GDP is lower than the US’s, its healthcare system is considered better than the US’s based on most metrics. The average life expectancy is 79.3 years and various forms of data and polling tend to give Costa Ricans a high “happiness” rating.

Most people in Costa Rica consider themselves Roman Catholic but many are non-practicing. Protestant Christians make up about 13% of the country.

As of now, Costa Rica is set to be the last month of our 11 month journey. We are very excited to finish in such a beautiful location, but we are also looking forward to being the salt of the earth among areas of the country that are downtrodden and hurting.

Prayer for Costa Rica: Please pray that people in Costa Rica, many of whom know of Christ, would take hold of what Christ has accomplished for them (Philippians 3:12) and run their race with perseverance (Hebrews 12:1).
