We are very excited to share that we have been accepted to the World Race September 2014 Route 5.  We have spent the last week researching the 11 countries that we will be going to.  In addition we have been “facebook stalking” some our future squad mates.  This is going to be an incredible 11 month adventure!

Going on a long term mission trip has been something that we have both had on our hearts from the time we got engaged.  It is something that we have stayed up late talking about for many nights.  It has not been until the last year that God has revealed more specifics to us about what this mission that we have been dreaming about would look like.

We first heard about the World Race while doing online research a little over 1 year ago.  Our research was fueled by a frustration with the “status quo” in our current situation and a desire to further pursue what we feel is our shared calling to a longer term mission.  Last summer, we discovered that a member of our church, Karen Meyer, would be launching her own World Race in September.  We were able to meet with Karen and get a lot more information from her.

Despite meeting with Karen and doing a lot of review of the World Race website, we still felt uncertain about timing.  In January we took our requests to the Lord with a period of prayer and fasting and came out of it knowing that the World Race was an opportunity that we needed to take now.  While we still had a lot of questions, the main word we received from the Lord was “trust me”.  With this word in mind are moving forward full steam ahead!

We still have a lot of housekeeping details to figure out but right now are taking a Proverbs 3:5-6 mentality: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight”.  We’ll be doing our best to update this blog weekly as the adventure gets closer.

God Bless,
