FLEXIBILITY, FLEXIBILITY, FLEXIBILITY

We heard it a lot at training camp but yesterday was our first practical lesson in flexibility and patience. British Airways wouldn’t let us on the plane to London because we didn’t have proof that we were leaving Africa. We left the airport at 9pm last night and they drove us here to AIM’s office in Gainesville, GA. The plan as of now is to send 9 (maybe 13) of us to London tonight and the rest tomorrow night (same schedule as before just moved back one or two days). I’m in the group leaving tonight. We only have faxed copies of our tickets out of Africa for tonight so please pray that they will let us board. The group tomorrow should have all the proper documents. In addition, we found out that we can only have 1 carry-on instead of 1 carry-on and one personal item, which complicates things a bit.

The upside:

-We slept a full 7 hours on sleeping pads and couches, opposed to seats on an airplane

-We got to catch up with our leaders and friends from training camp

-We had French toast this morning and the Real Lifers (mission teams here at their own training camp) graciously let us go first

-We are hanging out together, blogging, playing cards, taking showers (cold water though so I think I’ll skip), playing guitar, doing devotions, etc etc etc.

Many of us feel that our delayed departure was for a reason, although we haven’t figured out what that is, this has been a good time for us to rest and relax after the packing frenzy that most of us went through the past several days. I’m still excited about getting to Africa so please pray that we will actually get on the plane this time.

Hopefully my next blog will come to you from London or Africa.

Until then… pray, pray pray!

Thank you!!!!!!! 🙂
