While in the Philippines we held a block part for the local community complete with a clown, balloon animals, games, face painting, and food. During most of the party I was taking family portraits (see my blog- The gift worth 1,000 words) but I took out several minutes to be involved in a drime. A drime (drama/mime) is a dance to a song that tells a story. While at training camp for the World Race we learned a drime to the DC Talk song In the Light. It’s a powerful and moving drama about a girl who gets freed from the grips of Satan and experiences the true freedom of Jesus. My team performed it several times in Thailand and it was an incredible experience each time. I was really excited to share it with the children and families of the surrounding community.

We spent the morning practicing and trying to remember all our parts. We finally felt we remembered it well and left for the block party. During the first part of the block party a little boy came in convulsing. He had an extremely high fever and was very sick. They rushed him off to the hospital and Katey, being an ER nurse, went off with him.

Twenty minutes before our drime was to start, Katey still wasn’t back. She was playing the part of the good girl and was the only one who really knew it. Julie had been helping us rehearse so she said she would do it and ran back to the house to practice. Fifteen minutes later, the children were being gathered and set in place for the drime and Julie still wasn’t back from practicing. I ran down to the house to find her. I asked if she was ready because the drime was about to start. She said she wasn’t quite ready but would do it anyway. As we ran back to the party I prayed out loud, “God, we need a miracle. I know you want this drime performed as it is a powerful tool to bring people into your kingdom. We need you to just come in to us and move for us. Lord, help us remember all the motions whether we know them or not. Amen.” And we were back at the house.

Julie wasn’t very confident but she was getting into position and trusting the Lord to guide her. I decided to stop worrying and get into my starting position, which is me crouched down with my face to the ground. As I was sitting there I heard someone call my name. I looked up and Esther was smiling and pointing up. I said, “Oh great, you’re praying. Thank you!” and she said “No, LOOK!” and pointed next to me. I looked over to where Julie was just sitting and there was Katey!!! She returned from the hospital just in time for the drime. Praise God! Only a moment later and it would have been too late, we would have already started. It truly was a miracle. It may have been something small but it meant a lot to me. It was another one of many ways that the Lord showed me his unending faithfulness that month.
